Dr. Hassan Nasir | Department Head
Meet the Team
Dr. Hassan Nasir is a Professor and Chairman, Department of Civil Engineering at CECOS University of IT and Emerging Sciences, Peshawar, Pakistan. Previously, he served in King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and the University of Waterloo, Canada. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in civil engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and was a recipient of the prestigious Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Postgraduate Doctoral Scholarship.
Dr. Nasir has more than 25 years of professional experience in civil engineering, project management, and infrastructure asset management. His research interests are in the fields of construction engineering and management, construction and building materials, benchmarking and metrics, performance, and productivity improvement, and infrastructure management. He has published several papers and industry reports on improving project performance, productivity, and asset management.
He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI), United States. He has extensive experience working with private and public sector organizations and performed applied research in collaboration with leading construction companies in Canada, Saudi Arabia, and United States including the Construction Industry Institute (CII), Texas, US.
He was also President of the Graduate Student Association at the University of Waterloo, Canada, and a member of the University’s Senate and Board of Governors. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO), KPK, and chairs the Reforms and Restructuring Committee of the PEDO Board of Directors.

Dr Asim Farooq is an Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering at CECOS University of IT and Emerging Sciences, Peshawar, Pakistan. He is also “Approved PhD supervisor” and voluntarily works with Pakistan Federal highways and Motorway as a travel safety expert and analyst.
He obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering (Transportation Planning Engineering) from the University of Sciences and Technology, Beijing, China in 2019. He works as an assistant researcher at Virginia Tech USA, in the year 2015. He did his Master in Transportation Engineering from Technical University of Munich, Germany. He did his BSc from CECOS University in 2011. During his career, he was a recipient of the “China Postdoctoral Science Foundation”, “the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities of China”, ‘’National Natural Science Foundation of China’’, ‘’China Postdoctoral Science Foundation’’, ‘’National Natural Science Foundation of China’’, & Beijing Natural Science Foundation.
Dr Asim Has over 3 years of Professional Experience. He mainly focused on Transportation Planning and Safety Engineering to design megacities cities to increase the connection and connectivity, reduce travel time, and analyze travel delay, transfer time, travel reliability, safety and comfort of the passenger. During his carrier, he published 20 articles, where most of them are part of Science Citation Index (HEC-W Category recognized Journal list). During his carrier, he was a recipient of Gold Medal during PhD 2019, Best Research achievement Award, & First Price Award for his dedication and hard work.

He has been teaching as a lecturer at CECOS University for more than 9 years and has taught various courses to undergraduate students. He is the current Exam coordinator of the department as well. In addition to routine teaching, he has also supervised a number of Final Year Projects.

Engr. Abbas Khan is lecturer in the department of civil engineering at CECOS University. He is basically structural engineer by profession and has interest in design of masonry, concrete, wood and steel structures. He is currently pursuing his PhD in structural engineering from UET Peshawar.

I am serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, CECOS University. I joined CECOS University in January 2014 as a Lab Engineer and was promoted to Lecturer in October 2016. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from UET Peshawar in 2016 and received my Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structures) from CECOS University in 2016.
Research Interests: Advanced structural materials; Durability of concrete structures; Utilization of natural and industrial solid wastes as supplementary cementitious materials/aggregates; Multi-functional cementitious materials; Structural strengthening using various types of polymers.

Currently pursuing M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Taxila. He has done his bachelor’s in civil engineering from Qurtuba University of Science and Technology, D.I.Khan (Session 2015-19) and remained a gold medalist. Currently, he is working as a Lab Engineer at CECOS University of IT & Emerging Sciences, Peshawar. Previously, he served as a Site Engineer at Earth Engineering Associates (PVT).Ltd. Islamabad and as an Internee in National Logistic Cell (NLC), Islamabad.


Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Currently doing his Master’s degree in Urban infrastructure Engineering from NIUIP, UET Peshawar. He has worked as an MS Student Researcher at the National Centre in Big Data and Cloud Computing (NCBC, UET Peshawar). He has also worked as Civil Engineering Internee in National Logistics Cell (NLC) and PDA.
